Why the NHL’s Stanley Cup is the most authentically human trophy in major sports

How to think about retirement if you don’t have a traditional full-time job

Work Life

Retirement planning is typically framed around full-time employment. 401(k)s or pension plans are attractive benefits for people in the corporate world. Those people can open their monthly statements and watch their retirement accounts grow steadily over time. But for the 16.8 million people in the U.S. who are self-employed (myself included), retirement planning looks different.

Comment on I got scolded for eavesdropping, should I give up on a federal career, and more by Sparrow

Ask a Manager

Hi! Trans person who works in DEI here, and I’d like to suggest a quick correction for LW#3, if I may! Alison’s suggested script includes “Non-binary people aren’t women or ‘women-adjacent’ and it would be inappropriate for me to speak there.” The issue here is that some nonbinary people are, in fact, also women—bigender, genderfluid, demigender, genderqueer, and many others may identify in whole or in part as women.

In reply to Sparrow. The honest truth is that a lot of “women in tech” events are actually more like “anyone who doesn’t pass for a cisgender man in this field that is heavily biased toward cis men” events. Not all, ofc, but a lot. Probably the names could use some rethinking.

My speculation is that English is the international language of business, I’m from a wealthy and powerful country that demands international respect and has a lot of soft powe
