Over the hundred years that followed, variances occurred in how offices were designed but most still resembled rows of open desks within view of large private offices, driven by the needs of bosses to supervise work, commiserate with each other, and impress clients. This is a seismic shift in the conceptualization of the workplace.

As sort of a cherry on top, the new position as well as the run up to the real estate market meant that I sold my post-divorce “whatever I could afford” house, that the children and I had totally redone, for enough to move to the town I wanted to live in, and I bought a house in a crazily high cost of living area, all by myself.

There is a fair amount of movement between positions and there’s no guarantee that I will supervise the same people from year to year. Recently, people who work for my full-time organization have started to apply for positions in the part-time organization that I hire for and would supervise. More on that here.

I wouldn’t use an extra line on them, because you don’t want to take away real estate for other, more recent accomplishments. Some of the people who interviewed me are my hiring manager’s peers and wouldn’t be directly supervising me, some would be my team members, and some are on other teams.
