In reply to Free Meerkats. Outside the US (I know OP is in the US) per diems can be tricky from a tax perspective. I used to work for an organisation that used per diems for travel, which is unusual in the UK. The tax authorities got wind of it decided to audit the organisation to find out if the per diem amount represented a genuine amount.

In reply to Margaret. Many counties and municipalities in Sweden actually forbid employees from smoking at work, period, even if they were to go on a walk on their break and smoke then. And schools and all school activities are smoking-free for everyone, including teachers.
