Never before has the job market faced such a surge in fraudulent, fake and malicious applications. As employers increasingly rely on remote and digital hiring processes to reduce costs, scammers and unqualified individuals are leveraging AI tools to manipulate their way through the system. Greenhouse has partnered with CLEAR to launch new software aimed at stopping AI-generated resumes and fraudulent applicants before they make it to the interview stage.
In reply to Put the Blame on Edamame. A lot of this reputation comes from this scenario: Medium-sized company, HR department of 3-4, no trainer role. A new mandate arrives, for whatever reason – legal/regulatory, insurance-driven, new corporate policy. Head of HR says “Well, I guess we have to put a training program together and run everybody through it.” And of course there’s no budget to accompany the mandate.
For many early-career professionals, the sound of a ringing phone sparks more dread than urgency. Faced with the unexpected pressure of a live conversation, some freeze, let the call go to voicemail or scramble to respond by text instead. As Gen Z enters the workforce, a quiet but consequential shift is taking place: More young employees are avoiding phone calls altogether—and it’s starting to affect the workplace.
In reply to Chaordic One. Call who you want to donate to and see if they take damaged and stained clothing. my understanding is that many places sell them to rag makers by the pound. The podcast I heard this on was a leader of a goodwill store being interviewed. They did say each regional goodwill store is managed separately and might have different rules.
Forgetfulness is costing you time, money, and a ton of missed opportunities. In the age of automation, it’s easy to underestimate the power of a well-trained human mind. Whether you’re managing people, leading sessions, or having high-stakes conversations, remembering names, details, and concepts can be transformative in building trust, absorbing knowledge, and driving perform

In reply to DisneyChannelThis. +1, this is a good approach. I also dislike the question and am often tempted to ask for clarification, i.e., “That’s a pretty broad question, could you tell me more about what work contexts you had in mind or specifics of what you’re looking to understand?” Most of the time they don’t have a good response.
O my crimes caused much commotion long after I was punished by the law, and I waited, hoping a sagacious shrink would boost in my cliché-ridden mind, like waves lift swimmers in the ocean and offer high rides back to the shore , a subdued sense of functioning in sync with the original, dynamic and kind, but now, knowing it obliterates us fools, this dream so illustrative of obliquity it must be treated with chemical tools without ever disclosing the iniquity of how they ultimately leave us dead,

In reply to Jackalope. I’m a semi-professional DM, running games both at work and at a friendly local game store, but I’ve really been wanting to start a home game. If only I could find players… As far as video games go, I’ve started playing Pentiment after getting it on sale! It’s a sort of point and click adventure/mystery game set in the 16th century and all animated in the style of a medieval manuscript.
W earing colorful t-shirts emblazoned with the hashtag #NoMoreDeadFriends, dozens of veterans, families, and allies gathered on June 4–5 in Washington, DC for the “War Cry for Change to End Veteran Overprescribing” summit. The event was organized by several national Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) led by the GruntStyle Foundation (GSF), in partnership with Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and in collaboration with the Irreverent Warriors and the Pink Berets
In reply to Red Reader the Adulting Fairy. You do have to have your blower fan running constantly to really get any benefit out of it, which can be a problem in an older or poorly maintained system. But a newer system (say within the last 10-15 years) is, I’m told by the maintenance guy, actually better off if you run the fan constantly, because the strain on the fan mechanism comes in starting and stopping it.
Headline from bostonglobe.com During the mid-to-late 1700s, Massachusetts would become a hotbed of activism and resistance toward the British Crown. It is, among other things, the site of the Boston Tea Party, when in 1773, colonists protested taxation without representation by marching over to the Boston Harbor, then boarded British merchant ships and tossed hundreds of chests of tea into the water.
Documents are the backbone of enterprise operations, but they are also a common source of inefficiency. From buried insights to manual handoffs, document-based workflows can quietly stall decision-making and drain resources. For large, complex organizations, legacy systems and siloed processes create friction that AI is uniquely positioned to resolve.
In reply to Shirley Keeldar. Also check AAM’s salary survey spreadsheet if there are any numbers there that would be useful for you. Alison posted it a few months ago.
In reply to Professor Plum. Yes, this what I did too, after this happened to me. I hadn’t even used the debit card in question. I actually leave them off all the time now, and in the house, in a drawer, unless I have specific plans to use them. This isn’t true of all debit cards, but the bank in question said that if my card was blocked, and the physical card was put away, nobody should be able to gain access to my account.
In reply to allathian. That’s an uncommon ownership model in the US. I’ve been in real estate 12 years, and only encountered it once. Townhouses vary by region. In my current region they are usually income-based rentals, in my previous region they were usually individually owned but ruled by an HOA. Both regions I’ve been in differentiate between condos and apartments.
In the accounting world, staying ahead means embracing the tools that allow you to work smarter, not harder. Outdated processes and disconnected systems can hold your organization back, but the right technologies can help you streamline operations, boost productivity, and improve client delivery. Dive into the strategies and innovations transforming accounting practices.
In reply to Helvetica. Another way to work with color: pick a piece you love – a textile or painting or anything else. For us it was our wedding china in our first house and a quilted wall hanging in this house. Then use the colors in that piece in all the rooms of your home. They all work well together or you wouldn’t love the piece, right?
In reply to Alex. A lot of mine is photographs I’ve taken of family and friends and then printed off using the Mixtiles service – I have them all done in the same layout, frame, etc, as 8″ squares (mostly), and then lay them out in various gridded patterns like a gallery wall (which I think also contributes to the notion of cohesion and not just “I threw whatever I liked up on the wall.” They mount on magnets (included) that attach to the wall with basically command
In reply to KeinName. I’m in a small town and post-disaster (we’ve had floods, droughts and fires) it’s all the locals talk about anyway. I’d say that the locals will have it in mind for much longer than outsiders. Generally people don’t want to feel forgotten.
In reply to Roland. We have places near us that collect worn out/stained clothes, towels, sheets, etc. for textile recycling. They told me that some donation organizations will take textiles for recycling and pass them along to them, but you need to ask them if they do. Some donation organizations just toss stuff.
In reply to Tree Health Advice Needed. We have an arborist come once a year to check the health of our trees and give info and recommendations. They’ve been very helpful! Hope your saplings all do well.
In reply to No Tribble At All. Yeah, and that doesn’t suit me at all. Organized activities/hobbies are still structured time. I don’t want to be constantly accomplishing something and I think that we as a society need to let go of the idea that idleness is a sin.
Do you guys know of any tips/rules for when you should throw out nasal spay medications after they’ve been opened? I saw a comment online somewhere saying that you should throw out nasal sprays (allergy medicine like Flonase, decongestants, etc.) after they’ve been used and sitting for a while, even if they aren’t expired, because of possible bacterial contamination from putting them in your nose.
In reply to English Rose. Thanks for all these great suggestions, I’m feeling very optimistic. Going to try a few but looks like maybe some combo Pilates and yoga classes.
In reply to Red Reader the Adulting Fairy. My husband has done this with kindergarten classes and it is really cool. Yes, you have to discard the fish afterward. We put one in our compost pile.
In reply to BleepBoopBeep. I need a balance of structured activities that get me out of the house and seeing people. That makes my ‘down time’ at home feel like rest and relaxation rather than humdrum, same-same. Without the activity my down time feels boring.
In reply to Blomma. I wanted to get away from Goodreads and starting using Book Tracker (site is booktrack.app). It’s an app available for iOS and macOS. You purchase a lifetime license for $15.99 (per format). I only use it on iOS. Data syncs with iCloud. I imported my Goodreads list into it, and I’ve been using it for the past few months.
In reply to Red Reader the Adulting Fairy. I hang my heavy/sherpa hoodies in my closet on hangers. (Folding the hood itself into the hoodie makes it look neater and it seems to take up less space somehow.) I also have six medium Command hooks on the inside of my closet door (three closer to the top, and three closer to the middle) where I hang thinner fleece hoodies.
