Is this legal? Legal* but absurd. I have some experience with accounting (internships, bookkeeping work at other jobs) and would now be happy to pivot to that kind of work. I didn’t want to have to go into the office to pick up firm-issued equipment. Am I crazy for thinking this is absolutely absurd?
For example, the Wave Advisors program provides bookkeeping support and one-on-one accounting and payroll coaching. Each company offers free support, but this support varies by hours and by type (phone, video, chat or email). Some even offer additional help for a fee.
If the employee can’t make that work with their schedule, the company will (very occasionally) ship the prototype and necessary equipment out to them. When my remote coworkers need to do this, our company will fly them to the office and put them up in a hotel nearby.
